The Answers You Seek Will Never Be Found At Home
To balance my earlier comments about gays, I must confess that "Smalltown Boy" by Bronski Beat is a masterpiece. Pop before it was all about producing ringtones, though it would make a great ringtone....

A Strange Friend
We couchsurfed for most of our east coast journey. I am sure I’ve talked about couchsurfing before, although if I haven’t I apologize because I should have by now. It has changed the way I travel and the way I experience a new city. However every time I leave to travel I learn something new about traveling. This time I learned what it is like to travel with another person. It was tough at times, though fun most of the time and My surfing endeavors come in phases. I move between a complete immersion in the culture to no contact for months as easily as shaving or not shaving. That is a terrib...

DINOSAUR DAY 2010!!!!!
If I go down in history for anything in the world, I want it to be for inventing Dinosaur Day, the day on which we honor our long lost reptilian overlords, the dinosaurs, by going on Dinosaur Pilgrimage. Last year, we celebrated the inaugural dinosaur day with a trip to the Cabazon Dinosaurs, home of a terrifying creationist museum. This year, aided and abetted by roadsideamerica.com, a website that has come to dictate far too many of my day to day activities, we went on yet another ambitious journey into the desert, in the middle of July, where it reached 44 fucking degrees celcius. But...

small potatoes
So, Thriller makes an excellent point. At the next world cup, we will be thirty. This realization was met with the requesite pouts until we saw the genius opportunity. Our thirtieth birthdays will be celebrated in Brazil' drinking shots of gin every time Beckham looks disappointed, which is constantly; for weeks. And I've already decided that my 27th will be celebrated at Madeleines, Pie and Ice Cream because of a very special encounter I had this week with a slice of key lime pie and a backyard cabana. So now that that's all taken care of, I can, you know... plan the trip to Europe that's happ...

cooler. drier. better.
a conversation about transportation with Sherry's four-year-old nephew who lives in Utopia, the land time forgot
Nephew: What kind of truck do you drive?
Me: I don’t drive a truck.
Nephew: Well then how do you get to work?
Me: I ride my bike.
Nephew: [facial expression indicates mind is blown]
To be fair, in Utopia, everything with four wheels is called a truck, except things that I call “four-wheelers”, which the Utopians call bikes....
A Running Commentary
And, naturally, there will be shirtless Saturdays
I am moving, dear Internet. I am moving on up, to the West side (of Hamilton), to a deluxe apartment that is, like most apartments, technically in the sky. Actually, I do not know that it is technically a deluxe apartment. I am not entirely sure what a deluxe apartment is. I think this is in part due to the word "deluxe" being open to interpretation. For instance, what I consider to be luxurious may be not-so-luxurious to Donald Trump. Equally, what a homeless person considers to be sumptuous may be something I consider to be a shit hole. I am excited about my move. So what that I do not reall...

Getting Hitched! Clear Sept. 4th on your Calendars
So Regan and I went to Stratford for the weekend and after watching a smoke-monster filled play complete with rose-bush-headed dancers and smoking Jackalopes, we decided to get hitched. He was all like "marry me or the Jackalope will get you":And I was all like "Ok, geeze, relax":And then he's like "yeah ok" and I'm like "Are you SURE because this is what you'll be getting for the rest of your life":And Tudor was like "Guys please stop trying to impale each other with my pitchfork; p.s. I have a knife and grapes":And then we were like "Yeah, ok, I guess we sort of like each other":And that dear...

Putting things to rest
In 2007-2008 I did a sketching project. I decided I would do a sketch a day for an entire year and post it to my flickr account publicly, whether I was proud of the sketch or not. I thought this would be good for me.
In the past couple weeks, I’ve been feeling anxious about a lot of the drawings I have online. I’m not sure exactly what prompted this anxiety. I suspect that what happened is that some part of my brain feels that many of the themes that were coming out in the drawings need to be laid to rest.
A lot of the drawings are about feeling sick (from lupus), having mi...

Staring on the Edge of Safe
Number 1 of ?09
I am a dumb, and somehow when I did my top albums/songs of ’09 post, I forgot to include my very favourite track of the year. But that’s ok, because now it gets a special post all its own. And it deserves it, because it is by far the best jam of the year. It is “A New Error” by Moderat.

Somebody To Love
Doodle The Mascot
I joined the local embroidery guild a couple weeks ago, and for their first project of the year they are doing redwork embroidery. Basically you take a stylized image, transfer it to your fabric, and use outline stitch (also called stem stitch) to stitch the outline onto the fabric. It’s redwork because you traditionally use [...]...
