I finished the first part of sense and sensibility, but I've another two parts to read before Monday's class. Not to mention a movie review, poetry midterm and a take-home all due this week. My café is getting cold, so I'd better get working on it to. I just wanted to give a quick hello from the local European coffee shack in Stratford.I'd been having a craving for an espresso for about a week; I felt it time to succumb to the temptation.Adieu,--bsent, with love, from Nowhere, Particular....

Photobucket has removed some pictures from my Top Ten Worst Kinds of Nazis post under the apparent assumption that making fun of Nazis makes me a Nazi. Obviously the fools never read Thus Spoke Zarathustra, in which our Protagonist remarks: "Not by wrath does one kill but by laughter." Obviously the Nazis never read it either. Fascism: the ability to read Nietzsche and not realize he's making fun of you....

Indoor soccer is so funny. Mainly because it bears no resemblance to actual soccer, and yet people still play it. I guess I was coddled and precious growing up in KW, where we never played soccer in a gym (except for that one season where we had a personal trainer and played crab soccer, and I don't even want to think about that) because we always had Bechtel Park and Budd Park, and now RIM park, and generally, all of the indoor fields we could ever use, and we always got first access to them because we were (cough) rep teams. So the fact that I am playing soccer in a gym now is pretty funny. ...

Dress and a Song Episode 14: The Satisfactions ? Daddy, You?ve Just Gotta Let Him In
Ok, I swear to god I am still blogging for realz. This quarter is just eating my brain alive – my exams are coming up, which is, you know, stressful and stuff. So I apologize for the lack of dress blogging as of late.
But anyhow!
The Satisfactions have proven a bit tough to track down. By all accounts, they were actually The Blossoms, a girl group who didn’t have that many hits of their own, but who recorded backup vocals for Phil Spector-produced tracks by bands like the Ronnettes and the Crystals, and they worked with artists including Elvis, Sonny and Cher, and the Beach B...

Things and days
I’ve been getting a lot of antibiotic-related spam to this blog. The idea of people buying antibiotics without prescriptions on the Internet disturbs me more than the idea of people buying opioids. For some reason it never occurred to me that the average citizen with no medical training might decide they really need antibiotics and then buy them online.
This type of abuse still doesn’t make me as mad as the abuse of antibiotics by doctors themselves. (Until recently I didn’t know that doctors will actually prescribe antibiotics for viral infections.) It’s hard to ...

A Running Commentary
Draft(s)
I am writing an article about dairy products. Trust me, it is fascinating. My mission is to expose the seedy underbelly of the Ontario dairy industry. Actually, that is entirely untrue. To my knowledge, there is no seedy underbelly, and I have looked because, as it turns out, under the belly is exactly where udders are located.30.01.10My blue jeans are sagging. This saddens me, in a way, because I purchased them approximately one month ago.28.01.10I think I may have caught a cold. The contents of my stomach feel like the may be rallying together in an attempt to reemerge from the very same pas...

Staring on the Edge of Safe
Number 1 of ?09
I am a dumb, and somehow when I did my top albums/songs of ‘09 post, I forgot to include my very favourite track of the year. But that’s ok, because now it gets a special post all its own. And it deserves it, because it is by far the best jam of the year. It is “A New Error” by Moderat.

All the Little Things
When you have a party people come and bring awesome stuff.Sometimes they leave some of their awesome stuff behind. Sometimes this is unintentional. This time we received lots of intentionally left great things like gifts, food, and booze. Yum.There were also a few items in the lost-and-found at our place, like:1 x man scarf (brownish in colour. very nice. possibly belonging to a greg smith).1x olive oil present (Amy this is yours and we can bring it to Sra's par-tay if you like).1x compact disc (this belongs to Alysia and she left if here even though I reminded her 5 minutes before she left and...

I joined the local embroidery guild a couple weeks ago, and for their first project of the year they are doing redwork embroidery. Basically you take a stylized image, transfer it to your fabric, and use outline stitch (also called stem stitch) to stitch the outline onto the fabric. It’s redwork because you traditionally use [...]...
