Pricky

April 12, 2004

Two days ago I harshly critiqued some of the stale entries in the autoerotic affirmation project, so early this morning I jumped out of bed to see if I could do something more imaginative with my camera.

I threw open the curtains and set up the shot while drinking my coffee. The sun streams forcefully into my room for a couple of hours before noon, and the morning light is perfect for taking pictures. I quickly dropped my pants and grabbed a cactus.

The picture came out vibrant and colourful — natural light makes a big difference. I like the tension in the body and the strong contrasts in the photo. And I like even better how well the photo reduces to black and white, especially if the cactus remains red and bulging.

But is it imaginative enough? Hmm … let’s see what else I can do with my camera early in the morning.

HONEST TO GODFREY.
That’s a STUNNING photograph. Write a book, slap that on the cover, and I’m [peri]textually satisfied!

Thanks :). The photo is arresting, but I don’t think it captures the “erotic.” For all it’s worth, you can see it in colour here.

And when are you submitting something, Trev?

Hmmm….the colouriginal is much more…womanly, of you.
Unsure as to why.

When will I submit something?
When I have more than ten seconds of free time, and after I deface myself atop a building with you, apparently.

Ohhhhhh, beautiful! I like the black and white soooo much. The colour/contrast of the cactus is wonderful.
