New Camera Day

April 02, 2004

The Cyber-shot arrived in the mail three days ago and I’ve been playing with it ever since. Getting a new camera is a lot like like entering a new relationship: everything is tentative, tender, and intensely beautiful. Despite my shaky hands, dirty mind, and complete lack of coordination, the camera still responds to me and takes fantastic pictures. I’m starting to see the world differently.

And because of my new toy I spent the day creating the Tudor vanity site — I need a space to conveniently display my pictures (and I also need a bit of practice for a web project I’ll take on in a couple of days). Yes, the vanity site is painfully grey right now. It needs pictures of Tudor naked and more blue.

But since the design is done entirely using cascading style sheets, the grey will melt into something beautifully. This is the first site I’ve designed without the use of tables, and CSS is fairly tricky to use for layout. I spent two hours trying to figure out why the page behaved differently in Firefox and Internet Explored.

But overall I’m pleased with CSS — it makes beautiful things possible. This means that pretty soon I’ll start redesigning the blog, just to keep things interesting.

What price did ya get on it? I believe they are being discontinued in May as the new ones would be arriving.

With taxes and everything it was $401.99, though it may go down further in May. But it’s still nowhere as expensive as the new CybeShots. Sony audaciously painted the DSCP72 red and bumped up the price by $80.

CSS is slowly becoming my new-friend, as well.
NICE KAMERA.

That’s like my camera! I have the 32 model though. Missed out on the zoom.

The zoom is certainly a turn on, but I can’t believe they’re charging nearly $100 extra for it. The 32 offers good value — but where are all the wonderful Shirley photos?! Are you still thinking of starting a photoblog?

I sarted up a Squarespace account…have yet to figure out how to upload photos, but they do offer albums etc. I’d love to photoblog, but currently I’m too lazy to redo my blog. Maybe when finals are over and I’m at home with nothing to do.

I meant new cybershots as in the PX3 models, if history can predict the future soonish. The other one you lnked is just what they are going to fill the 3.2MP gap, like they did when the PX1 left, they turned it into a different model number to leave something in the 2MP range.

Anyays nothing can ever beat now now now.
